Chandigarh Misleading Advertising News – The Punjab-Haryana High Court issued notice to the Haryana government and other defendants on a petition seeking action against those who mislead people, make them make sacrifices and commit other unethical acts in the name of black magic actions and guarantee their claims.
Sirsa resident Baldev Singh and others told the high court while filing the petition that people involved in illegal religious activities sacrificed people and even killed people in the name of religion by pretending to be black magic.
People claim supernatural powers on a massive scale and advertise them indiscriminately on the Internet, print and electronic media. These ads claim that with the help of black magic, they will solve any problem within hours to days.
The petitioners said this violated the constitution as Article 25 stipulates that freedom of religion is subject to public order, morals and health. Advertisements claim they can harm opponents and make wishes come true.
Such ads can be easily read on bridges, telephone poles, public walls and other public places. The court was told that their claims did not stop there; they also assured that the results would be visible within five to seven days and hence, gullible people would fall prey to these people. The High Court has been sought to issue appropriate orders in the matter.
