iPhones Should Stop Making Phones in India – Why did American President Donald Trump Say this to Apple CEO?
Recently American President Donald Trump has asked the CEO of Apple company to shut down its mobile phone plants in India. By saying this he has targeted the iPhone manufacturers for planning to shift their manufacturing plants to some other country outside China.
Recently Trump has also asked Tim Cook in a discussion held in Qatar to focus on increasing the production of Apple mobile phones in America. By saying this growth of iPhone in India is going to have a major impact.
Trump recently said that he was upset with the fact that Apple is expanding its business in many places in India and I personally do not want you to do further development in India, I want you to increase the production of your iPhones in America.
Trump further said that India is capable of taking care of itself and India is the most praised country in the world. In such a situation, America faces a lot of problem in selling its products in the country with the highest population in the world.
Trump further said that in the recent talks with India, an agreement has been reached that India can reduce its tariff on American products and India wants to compromise in import tax.
This statement by Trump can have a major impact on Apple’s planning to source the supply of American iPhones from India by the end of next year 2026. And this was to reduce the manufacturing de-lending on China amid the tensions of geopolitics and tariff.
Most of the share of iPhones manufacturing in India is assembled in Foxconn Technology Group’s factory situated in South India. This electronics manufacturing unit of Tata group, which bought the local business of Wistron Corp. and runs its operations in India under the name Pegatron Corp., is a major supplier.
Sources have revealed that Foxconn and Tata are setting up new mobile manufacturing plants in South India due to which they are focusing on increasing the mobile production capacity.
From March 2-25, Apple has assembled iPhones worth $22 billion in just 12 months, which is considered to be 60% growth compared to last year’s production. Due to all these reasons, Donald Trump wants that the production of Apple iPhone mobile phones should be done in America.
